The LD-7 Acoustic Water Leak Detector from SubSurface Instruments is an extremely compact yet powerful device for basic water leak surveying. It has an 8-pound, palm-sized amplifier that amplifies water leak sounds by as much as 56 dB. It has a mute switch that, when pressed, activates the sound so that it can be heard through the headphones and mutes it when released to protect your hearing when moving the sensor.
The LD-7 is designed for the occasional user who needs an easy-to-use yet effective water leak detector. The sensor has a 3-point ground plate that is recommended for pinpointing leaks on streets and concrete slabs. It also has a magnet base and a contact rod, either of which can be used for leak surveys at hydrants, valves, or meters. With 5 high-frequency filters, 3 low-frequency filters, and two notch filters, the LD-7 blocks out noise from motors, wind, passersby, and loud machinery. The included stereo headphone has soft leather ear covers that stay comfortable even after hours of use.
Using two AA dry cell batteries, the LD-7 can be continuously used for 30 hours. It comes with a heavy-duty ABS plastic carrying case that can easily fit behind the cab of your truck or in a small cabinet.
