Bosch knows just what every professional in the construction industry needs and wants. They are committed to
providing solutions that give reliable and consistent results. The D-tect 120 wall/floor scanner gives just that and
more. It's got an intuitive, simple interface with super easy usability for on the go use. It's functionality and
price point both fall between the DMS 120 and the D-tect 150. See the comparison chart below.
Functionality
The interface has just 5 buttons to make it easy to use. There is the power on/off button. There are 3 for the different
modes: drywall, unknown, and concrete. And the last button is for audio on/off button. It's calibration-free so that you
can use it as is each time without the extra hassle of calibrating.
The D-tect 120 has a number of notification features. There is the AC warning that will let you know when you are
near live wiring, helping you prevent cutting a line and electric shock. There is a battery status indicator to
alert you of the batteries' level. Another feature is the traffic light LED warning: red=object found; yellow=object
nearby; green=no object found. The scanner is designed to detect metal (both ferrous and non-ferrous), wood (studs),
water filled plastic (PVC) pipes, and live wiring. It can detect up to 4-3/4" (12 cm) depending on the mode and
materials (see the chart in the features section).
There are two unique features for this scanner, both the center finder and the spot detection. The center finder is
a display indication that indicates with an arrow which direction to move the scanner so that you will be over the
center of the object below. When you are centered, the center cross lights up. The spot detection allows for reading
even in uneven and very small or narrow areas. The yellow LED light and magnifying glass will indicate when the
scanner needs to be shifted for a more accurate reading.
Design
The D-tect 120 is compact for easy handling and a minimal storage footprint. The keypad is simple and clear to use.
The buttons and functions are labeled with icons to avoid language barriers. Indications include: AC wiring, battery
status, sound on/off, center and direction indication, and spot detection.
