The Schonstedt Lexxi T1660 Cable Fault Locator is a handheld time domain reflectometer designed to find faults in twisted-pair, coaxial, and power cables. It sends a test pulse through the cable and displays reflections caused by opens, shorts, joints, impedance changes, and other discontinuities. The large 3.5-inch color screen shows the launch pulse, reflected pulse, cursor position, selected range, gain, cable impedance, Velocity of Propagation, and calculated distance to the fault.
The Lexxi T1660 combines straightforward six-button controls with 11 selectable test ranges from 23 feet to approximately 19,000 feet. Operators can adjust the Velocity of Propagation from 1% to 99% and select 25, 50, 75, or 100 ohm output impedance to match different cable types. The unit delivers fault location accuracy and resolution of approximately 1% of the selected range, runs for about 12 hours on six AA alkaline batteries, and can also use rechargeable NiMH cells. Its compact IP54-rated housing weighs only 1.3 pounds for convenient field testing.
