The Genny4 is a multi-function pipe and cable transmitter designed to improve underground utility locating with the C.A.T4 range. Operators can apply a signal directly to a conductive line, use a compatible signal clamp, or transmit inductively from the surface. Direct connection and clamp modes send 33 kHz and 131 kHz at the same time, helping locate a wider range of utilities, including smaller telecom and CATV cables that can be difficult to detect. Induction mode uses a 33 kHz signal for situations where the utility cannot be accessed directly.
The transmitter provides selectable Standard and Boost output levels, with up to 1 watt of output power in direct connection mode. It powers up in Standard mode and uses clear push-button controls for power, volume, and Boost selection. The unit includes simple push-button controls, LED indicators for Boost mode and low battery, a built-in water-resistant speaker, an accessory connection socket, and a storage tray for field accessories. Four D-cell batteries provide up to 40 hours of continuous operation in standard direct connection mode, while the rugged IP54 enclosure supports dependable use across demanding jobsites.
