The Schonstedt GA-72Cd Magnetic Locator is designed for locating buried iron and steel objects in surveying, utility, construction, municipal, UXO, and demining applications. It can be used to find survey markers, property pins, curb boxes, valve boxes, manhole covers, septic tank handles, pipe joints, steel drums, well casings, and other ferrous targets that may be hidden beneath soil, pavement, snow, or water. Schonstedt HeliFlux® sensors detect disturbances in the Earth’s magnetic field caused by ferrous objects, allowing the locator to identify targets without responding to aluminum, brass, or copper.
The GA-72Cd provides both audio and visual guidance to help the operator locate and center a buried object. Its three-digit LCD readout and expanding bar graph indicate relative signal strength and magnetic polarity, which can help determine target position and orientation. Four sensitivity levels allow the locator to be adjusted for shallow, deep, large, or closely spaced targets. Operators can choose between peak and null response modes, as well as audio feedback based on changing volume or frequency. A warning warble also indicates the possible presence of nearby live power conductors. Built with a rugged polycarbonate and ABS housing, this rechargeable NiMH battery variation is suited for repeated field use in demanding operating environments.
