The Schonstedt 512 Hz Sonde (TM50910) is a self-contained transmitter used to locate and trace non-metallic pipes, ducts, conduits, and other underground pathways. Once attached to a duct rodder, plumber’s snake, fish tape, inspection camera, or another insertion device, the sonde sends a 512 Hz signal that can be detected with a compatible Schonstedt pipe and cable locator. This allows operators to follow the sonde’s position from the surface and estimate the depth of the underground path.
The sonde is suited for water and sewer inspection, plumbing, telecommunications, electrical conduit locating, industrial pipeline work, and gas pipeline applications. It can help identify blockages, pipe defects, transition points, empty fiber ducts, underground vaults, and conduit routes. Powered by one AA battery, the TM50910 provides approximately 6 to 8 hours of continuous operation and can be detected at depths up to 14 to 16 feet, depending on soil conditions.
